Google Pixel Watch 2 might go official in 2023: Here’s all that we know about the wearable By- Techknowledge on May 10, 2023

In October 2022, Google's first wearable, the Google Pixel Watch, made its debut after years of rumors and leaks. The watch had a few standout features, including an integration with Fitbit and a very minimalist design. However, it was lacking in some areas, such as battery life and display size. Now, a few months later, we have heard that Google is already putting in a lot of effort to improve the Pixel Watch that will replace it. Allow us to view when the Google Pixel Watch 2 could send off and what all it could accompany.

Is Google Pixel Watch 2 confirmed?

Even with its flaws, everyone welcomed Google's first Pixel Watch with open arms because we thought it was a good first attempt and that Google was just getting started in this field. Even though there are only a few options, the Google Pixel Watch 2 could come out in the future. The Pixel Watch is a popular device in a lot of markets thanks to the Wear OS and Google-centric user experience. As a result, it is almost certain that Google will launch the Pixel Watch 2 with improved specifications and features to further expand the wearable market.

Google Pixel Watch 2: Expected launch date

A large portion of the well known smartwatch setups accompany another age every year. Every year, new series of smartwatches are released, whether they are Galaxy Watches or Apple Watches. This gives the brands time to improve and add the most recent features to their watches.

Google may produce the Google Pixel Watch 2 in October 2023, following in the footsteps of the Pixel Watch, which debuted in October 2022. The Pixel Watch 2 is likely to come with the Pixel 8 series in the fall of 2023 because it debuted with the Pixel 7 series. However, the Pixel 8 Series and Pixel Watch 2 might be shown off for the first time at Google I/O 2023, which is scheduled for tonight (10 May 2023).

Google Pixel Watch 2: Expected Features

Design

One of the highlights of the Google Pixel Watch was its minimalistic aesthetic, so there are very few chances that the design as a whole will change. Pixel Watch 2 could carry a domed display with more thinner bezels, rotating digital crowns, and unobtrusive band mechanisms. It will continue to run Wear OS, and it isexpected that its durability will improve. Customizable tiles, integrated Fitbit apps, and extensive third-party app support may also return with a clean Google Forward experience. There may be a greater 41mm model too.

Health & Fitness Tracking

Fitbit's tool compartment and sidekick application are supposed to go on with wellness following on Pixel Watch 2. The watch will keep track of things like steps, floors, distance, Active Zone Minutes, calories burned, and heart rate, among other things. Access to Fitbit's platform for tracking sleep will also continue. The built-in GPS, accelerometer, altimeter, compass, gyroscope, optical heart rate sensor, Fitbit's ECG App, and SpO2 sensor will all remain on the Pixel Watch 2. The Pixel Watch 2 is said to include the same precise GPS and heart rate sensor.

Specs

Google Pixel Watch 2 will be controlled by a high level chipset to further develop execution and battery duration. It could be powered by a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC made using a 4nm process. Additionally, the watch may use Material You color theming, which is currently available on Android 12.

Google Pixel Watch 2: Pricing Expectations

Google valued the principal Pixel Watch at 349.99 dollars (Rs. 28,600, roughly for a Bluetooth/WiFi base mode and an additional 50 USD (Rs. 32,700 in total for a Version with LTE. The sticker price took Google Watch among a portion of the top wearables including Apple Watch Series 8 and World Watch 5. Given the wearable's shortcomings, the price certainly seemed a little higher.

We still expect that the second Pixel Watch will cost approximately the same as the first, despite the fact that Google is expected to improve it. Prices may vary depending on the size of the additional cases.

Google Pixel Watch 2: What would we want to see

Improved Battery Life

The Pixel Watch's battery life is one of its biggest flaws. It barely lasts a full day on a single charger, and the watch needs to be charged twice a day for Fitbit integration, AOD, and other uses. This is disappointing for a smartwatch that costs more than $20,000, so Google absolutely needs to improve the Pixel Watch 2's battery life. Additionally, Pixel Watch cannot use reverse wireless charging from a Pixel phone and is not compatible with Qi-certified chargers. The organization can build the battery duration either by expanding the battery size or redesigning the processor, however doing this will be an unquestionable necessity to draw in additional purchasers.

2 options for the screen size

The Pixel Watch has a 41-millimeter display, so it fits comfortably on smaller wrists, but it looks dainty on larger wrists. Since people with smaller wrists would be dissatisfied, simply increasing the size would not address the issue. Therefore, Google ought to follow Apple and Samsung's example. By offering at least two display size options for the Pixel Watch 2, you can let customers choose the size that suits them best.

Doing away with the Bezels

Circular smartwatches look nice when they don't have a lot of bezels all over. The dark ring around the OLED screen makes the watch look shabbier than it really costs. Skinnier bezels are preferable if Google wants to compete head-to-head with rivals like Apple and Samsung because this is a high-end device and its appearance should reflect that.

New Color Options

The latest Pixel Watch is available in Champagne Gold, Matte Black, and Polished Silver case colors. Even though these are good color choices, they are still pretty basic. Some new, bright blues or greens would definitely make the room look better.

Better strap release mechanism

The Pixel watch's band mechanism is trickier than that of other smartwatches. It will become second nature to you, but it will take some time. Google asserts that it imitates the way a camera lens snaps into place, which may sound appealing but can actually be a hassle.

To remove the strap, press the release button, which can be found to the right of the strap. Slide the strap to the right until it covers the button by pressing down on it. It's even harder to put a strap back on because you have to line up the edge with a release button and press down and slide left until you hear a click.

Some might find this too much, so Google should definitely come up with a simpler method for taking the strap off and on.

Latest Chipset

As a result of Google's partnership with Samsung, the Pixel Watch 2 features a Samsung Exynos 9110 chipset with a low-power Cortex M33 coprocessor added for low-power watch face updates and 24-hour stat tracking. Since Pixel Watch is based on technology that has been around for four years, Google almost needs to update the chipset this time.

iPhone Compatibility

Pixel watches are best suited for Pixel phones, but they can also be used with any Android-based smartphone. It is advantageous for Android users, but not so much for iPhone users. Apple's ecosystem does not work with the Google Pixel Watch. Google ought to investigate the issue as well, given that an Android brand like Samsung offers iPhone compatibility for its watch series.

Better Health and Fitness Tracking Features

Despite the Pixel Watch's strong integration with Fitbit, other wearables in this price range offer even better health and fitness tracking features. Tools like precise workout data and continuous SpO2 monitoring, as well as the blood oxygen sensor that was seen disabled on the first Pixel Watch, are advanced. Google will need to up its game if it wants to compete with brands like Garmin, Samsung, and Apple because the wristband does not even have an automatic workout detection feature.
